We’re passionate about the world in which we live and are committed to reducing the environmental impacts of our products, people and workplaces.
Our Environmental Policy outlines our standards and helps us strive towards a more sustainable business. (see Policies)
We recognise that all consumer goods have an impact on the environment throughout the product lifecycle: from the design stage, to the raw materials, energy and water used to manufacture and package the products, to the transport needed to reach their place of use, to their end of life disposal.
We’re making improvements where we can to our products, our supply chain and our workplaces. We also support various environmental and conservation organisations and charities.
We have researched the lifecycles of some typical products made by Pentland brands and proposed 10 principles to help make improvements at every stage of the lifecycle, from design through to end of life disposal. Our findings are published in Responsible Products – Concepts and Consequences. Read more
Our brands are working on some exciting new initiatives towards more responsible products. There is a strong emphasis on the use of recycled and recyclable materials for our products and packaging, and we’re also working with our suppliers to reduce the environmental impacts of the manufacturing process.
Improving the environmental management of our workplaces is high on our agenda.
Our initiatives include reusing and recycling what we can, reducing our waste to landfill, reducing energy consumption, increasing staff awareness and engagement, and utilising technologies such as video conferencing to reduce business travel.
As a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, we are committed to aligning our business with universally accepted environmental Principles and must report yearly on our efforts. Our reports can be found under United Nations Global Compact in Partnerships.
We also support many worthwhile local and global environmental initiatives and charities. (see Community)
